JULY
20TH, 2008 -
Yesterday, we adopted out our last dog from the
rescue. (Lilly went to live permanently with her
foster family). Due to our director's husband
retiring, and their relocating to a warmer climate,
the rescue is closed, and no longer adopting out
dogs.
We want
to thank everyone for supporting us, and adopting
our dogs for the last several years. We ask that if
you are looking for a dog or puppy that you go to
www.petfinder.com
and support your local humane societies and
rescues. There are thousands of homeless animals
still looking for a good home
CASEY (Brillo's puppy)
We
adopted Casey in Mid February of 2008, she was born on 12/26/07. In
foster care she was Maggie and some of her brothers were Big Daddy and
Deacon Davis. A few days after being at home with us we named her Casey.
She is pretty tall and weighs in at about 19 pounds. She is extremely
happy and excited all the time, but very well behaved. She was “fixed”
last week Wednesday and everything went well. She was also micro chipped
at the time. We are having a lot of fun with her and she is such a big
part of the family. Thanks again. Jocelyn M
SPARTACUS
(Zodiac litter)
I
adopted Spartacus from the Zodiac litter, formerly named Scorpio, last
March. He's an amazing puppy! My while family adores
him. H loves to swim in the lake and ride on our boat (although he
needs his booties on to ride and tries to jump off after anything in the
the water).
His
best "trick" is swallowing milkbones whole - I guess you could
say he's a little obsessed with food.
He's
amazing with children and other dogs; he just loves everyone.
Whenever anyone leaves a room he starts to cry, especially if he's left
alone...he can't stand not having a person to play with or cuddle or
drape himself over so he can chew a bone. I can't imagine life
without Spartacus. I've grown so used to waking up with a
puppy sharing (but usually completely hogging) my pillow in the
morning. He's so important to me and I love him immensely.
FINCH (Shakespeare litter)
Greetings,
Happy Tails!
Attached
is a picture of Finch (meeting kitten in a bag). His name was
originally Sir Toby, of Shakespeare litter fame.
We
brought our little buddy home in the spring of '07. His litter, as we
were told, was found in a ditch in Kentucky, so we call him our
Kentucky Ditch Dog. He's one of a kind! He has not grown big as we
expected. Shepard and Lab was the consensus as to his mix at first;
however, though he's beautiful, he's quite spindly compared to those
breeds. Seems to me, he kind of has a similar build to a
large basenji.
He was
very easy to housebreak, and has always been very easygoing with being
handled--ears, paws, tail, mouth, etc. I'm sure his foster mom is to
be credited with his good manners. Finch is an active
fellow, very agile and quick. We chuckled at him when he was new
to us because he couldn't catch. He would flail his paws in the
air when we threw a toy for him, but you should see him now! He's a
champ. Last summer he graduated puppy school, and though he can
be a little stubborn, he's very smart, and generally not naughty.
This
spring we brought home another pup for him to play with, and we
couldn't have asked for things to work out better. He is very
big-brotherly with her, and she wears some of his energy off. I am
pleased wtih the strides he's made in maturity this past year, as he
has become much more calm and affectionate.

ARIES (Constellation litter)
Aries
has been a great addition to my life and I am happy to say he is doing
great. He loves running in the woods, and around the farm. He is the
most connected dog i have had. I can already have him walk without a
leash and he responds to everything i do. Its my best experience ever
with a good companion. Everybody that sees him loves him, he is such a
submissive dog, and loves everybody. Thank you so much for the chance to
find you and get my best friend back with me. I attached some pictures
from Aries growing and having fun for the past 9 months so hope to see a
picture on the website. Thanks again Dan R
REGGIE
It has been busy year. Reggie is doing great. He
loves to go visit his "cousins" Scrappy and Otis. They
have a blast chasing each other around the yard. He is not much
for car rides but loves to go up north and take walks in the woods.
Reggie has now started to go the the dog park and is loving every
minute of it. He has definitely become a big part of our family.
I don't know what we would do without him.
MOLLY MOON
My
son's and I adopted Molly (ballpoint) last September and she has
been a joyful addition to our family, and makes friends
everywhere we take her...she loves other dogs, kids and adults.
She hasn't mastered winning over cats, though.
We call her the "Flirt".
Thank you all for sharing these beautiful animals with so many
families.
Lisa AJ and Rico.
LEXI
Hi,
I'm Lexi (formerly Jolene of the "J" litter). I have been in my new
family for almost two months now! I'm a very smart girl and already know
how to "sit", "paw" and "lay down". I'm a very good girl except I like
to play at 3 in the morning sometimes. My family takes me to the dog
park almost every weekend; I love all of the other doggies!
LOLA
Lola (formerly Jarina of the J Litter
or Charlotte) is doing great in her new home. She enjoys wrestling
with her new brother Gordon. When they walk together, neighbors ask
if Lola is Gordon’s daughter (a physical impossibility!!!) Lola
looks just like Gordon when he was a puppy. Lola is also the
smartest kid in her basic dog training class (and yes the author is
a little biased.) Lola also has two kitties that she tries to play
with. Pickles usually puts up with her, while Malcolm likes to give
her a swat from time to time. Lola was pretty shy with new people
and dogs at first, but now with the help of Gordon and her friends
at Central Bark downtown she enjoys meeting new people and pooches.
Mostly, she enjoys giving lots of sloppy kisses, chasing toys in the
yard (if not bringing them back), and taking long naps in her kennel
with a stuffed Kong.
DAKOTA
It
has been a little over 5 weeks since we adopted Dakota. She has adapted
well to her new surroundings and has proved to be a very loving
companion. She is fabulous with people of all ages and is doing well
with most other dogs she meets. She loves being outdoors and and would
go for walks all day if you took her. She has picked up well on many
commands and has become a fairly obedient sidekick. She gets very
excited when other people and dogs come to see her and is proving to be
a great companion.
MAX (Muppet litter)
Hi this is Max, we adopted him from the Muppet litter last June. We
adopted him from the adoption event when there was 9 and no names.
We've been very happy with him. He's very smart, loves people, and
loves playing with other dogs. I had to laugh at "Buster" (Max's
brother) posted on your website, because our daughter also uses Max as a
pillow and he doesn't care one bit.(please forward our email to them if
you can, I would love to hear from them) He loves playing with our son
and always seems want to be around us no matter what we do.
Occasionally he'll steal a tool from my husband or piece of laundry, be
we know he's just trying to help (or get our attention). He loves going
for car rides no matter where we go, he just wants to be part of our
family (pack).
Thanks,
Karen
EMMETT (Honey's puppy)
Hi.
I just thought you might be interested in this. I got Emmett's breed
analysis done through Wisdom Panel and found out he's mostly Lab, then
Irish Setter and then, get this, Greater Swiss Mountain Dog. I thought
that last one must be a mistake until I looked at his sister's (either
Cheyenne's or Zuny's) picture on your website. The facial
markings really looks similar to a Swissy's. Who woulda thunk it? I've
attached a picture of Emmett as he looks now.
Just wanted to let you know, Emmett is the most wonderful dog.
We've finished obedience, and he is now used as a demo dog for other
classes. I started him in Rally-O, but had to quit due to a family
illness. He was pretty good at it, so I'm hoping to start him up,
again, when things settle down. He's gone through beginning and
intermediate agility and has taken a tracking class. Now that I
know he has that G.S. Mountain Dog in him, I'd like to try him in a
cart pulling class, but I doubt there's anything like that around
here.

LEO
Here
is Leo, we have had him about two months I thought I would update again.
This picture was taken today on Mothers Day. He has really grown, He is
huge. His new sisters are a pug and a min pin, who he used to be as big
as, now hes much bigger than them. I really wish others from the zodiac
litter would update I really would love to see what they look like.
Leo is doing pretty good. He has a bad chewing habit! And still has some
accidents in the house but other than that we love him. Hes a great dog.
We will update again soon.
Love, Sara, Gary, Dakota, Joshua and Leo
CALIE
Hello
Everyone! Remember me? – formerly “Josina” or “Puppy” as my foster Mom,
Valerie, used to call me. Well, I’m with my new family now…my Dad, Mom,
teenage sister, and a strange looking, squeaky creature named Maxie
(they tell me she is a guinea pig). My new name is “Calie”.
Anyway, I just wanted to let you know my
family LOVES, LOVES, LOVES me. Valerie told them I was a heart stealer
and, let me tell you, I’ve got it down pat! I took all of them in -
hook, line and sinker. I think it has something to do with my
incredibility sweet face, my beautiful, brown puppy eyes, my waggly
tail, my sweet puppy kisses, and the fact that I absolutely LOVE to
snuggle! Even my Dad, the guy who claimed he really didn’t want another
dog, is smitten with me. Imagine that! The only thing that’s still not
working for me, despite even my very best puppy eyes performance, is I
can’t convince them to give me any of their human food. They think it’s
better if I just stay on my dog food (how boring!) but, I’m gonna keep
trying cuz I want that human food real bad. It smells SOOOO good!
Well, turns out I’m a pretty amazing
puppy. At least that’s what they keep telling me. I overhear them
saying stuff like “she hardly ever nips, she’s really calm, easy-going,
gentle, fast learner”, etc. Of course, now that I’ve been home for
almost two weeks, I’m starting to test them a bit more. I figure, it’s
best to keep them on their toes. One thing I love to do is pretend I’m
helping my Mom with laundry and steal the dryer sheets. Oh how I love
the dryer sheets, they smell SOOOO good too!
They say I’m a really smart puppy too.
Heck, I already know how to “sit”, lie “down” and I’m working on
“stay”. The “come” thing has been a bit more difficult for me to rap my
head around, especially when I’m doing something fun and don’t want to
be bothered. Despite the fact that I am so smart, they signed me up
for basic obedience class anyway – something about wanting a
“well-behaved dog”. Oh well, I’m figuring I might meet some new friends
there. Speaking of friends – anyone out there know what happened to my
Mom and my five, very cute sisters of the “J litter”??? I sure would
like to know how they are all doing.
Well, my new family sends a heartfelt
“THANK YOU” for all involved in my rescue. They want you to know they
feel exceptionally blessed to have me in their lives. Please know your
time and efforts are very much appreciated as I have brought them much
joy and happiness!
RILEY
Hi!
We adopted "Sir Nick" (Renamed Riley) earlier this month. He has settled
into his home quite nicely where we were able to see his full
personality. He is quite the ham and causes frequent chuckles throughout
the house. He loves to play and alerts us to anyone walking by the house
with a gentle bark. Riley is the best behaved dog I have ever seen, and
we are so grateful to have him! Thank you so much for bringing him into
our lives!
LOLA
I wanted to send an updated picture of Lola
(previously Dancer) who we adopted in December. She is one of Rudy's
litter. She has adjusted wonderfully to our house, kids, cat, etc. She
loves to go on walks, but her favorite thing is to go to the dog park
where she plays with her buddies, jumps in the lake, chases birds, etc.
Thank you so much Happy Tails.
Also, I wanted to let those that adopted her siblings know that we did
the Wisdom Panel/DNA test and it found these six breeds in her:
Australian Shepherd, Sheltie, Pembroke Welsh Corgi, Scottish Deerhound,
Vizla and Havanese.
BUSTER
Hi
there~
I was just checking back in with the rescue, we adopted a puppy last
June. I have been thinking alot lately about our guy's
littermates, wondering if they're as wonderful of pets as he is! I would
certainly be open to being in contact with anyone else who is
interested. Buster LOVES to play. He's very exuberant with other dogs
(bordering on bad manners - but he means well LOL)
We adopted from the Muppet Litter - June 07. He was Fozzy, now he's
Buster.
I just can't tell you what a positive experience this has been. How
blessed we feel to have found this rescue, and our dog. We couldn't have
imagined just how much we would love him. I also enclosed a few
pictures - just because he's so DARN cute and I'm a proud puppy parent
(I SO used to make fun of those people!)
Thanks,
~Julia
KYE
Hello,
We thought it was time to send another picture of Kye so you can see how
well she is doing. We adopted her in November 2006. You may remember
that she had given birth to 13 puppies in Sept and had been called Tara
at that time. She will be three years old next month and just loves her
life with us. She and her 10-year-old sister Shiloh, our Aussie mix,
love to take walks and go for rides on a daily basis.
We are always delighted to see pictures of some of Kye's puppies on
Happy Tails website. Some look just like her and we wonder if they have
her loving temperament. We would love to learn more about them from any
of her pups' owners.
Thank you for all you do in rescuing those dogs who otherwise might not
have a chance. We know you saved Kye's life as well as her puppies.
God's blessing to all of you at Happy Tails,
Karen and Meg
LUCKY
We adopted Lucky (aka BMW) in early February, and I've
been meaning to send you a picture for a few weeks now. When I went to
the rescue web site today, I saw you have a picture on the front page of
one of Lucky's siblings. Stormy and Lucky look so much alike! The
same unusual grey, tan and creme and similar markings. Stormy/Mustang
was gone by the time we picked up Lucky, but the resemblance is
striking.
We were so curious as to Lucky's make-up that we had him DNA tested.
The people who adopted his siblings might be interested to know that
the test showed him to be basically a collie/dachshund mix. He has
border collie, collie and sheltie, and a lot of dachshund. You'd
never know it from his long legs. He's now 24 pounds at almost four
months old
Anyway, we love him. Thank you for shepherding him along to us.
Best,
Karen B
STORMY
My
black dog Rusty (who I think looks a lot like Stormy's Mom) has really
taken to his new play mate. Sophie, the brindle is a" queen" and keeps
the pup in his place. He is almost 4 months now and is very smart
and learns things very easily. It took me a long time to decide on a
puppy rather than an older dog but I am enjoying every minute of this,
maybe because I'm older now and have no family to take care of and I
have my two very well behaved "babysitters" Stormy is learning much from
them.
CHEYENNE and ZUNY (Honey's puppies)
(Hi
Happy Tails
It's Cheyenne and Zuny (formerly Pueblo). We were adopted on 3-2-06.
Debbie was our foster mom. Hi Mom!
Our forever family is great! Coming home was lots of fun, there was
a fluffy dog already living here named Sarina.
We miss her; Mom says she went to Heaven, and plays like a puppy
again. She liked us a lot, we snuggled and played. She taught us so
many things like potty outside, guard the yard, talk to the people,
oh yea and eat Mommy's shoes!
Well……. actually that one was ours, but we got over that when we saw
it made Mommy really sad.
That Dad guy is cool; he gave us a really important job a few weeks
after we got here. He said we were going to help him propose to Mom!
Can you imagine? He tied ribbon to our collars, on Zuny’s was a
little card, and Cheyenne’s was the ring! He sent us to “go get
mommy” and boy did we.
Mom and Dad say we're big girls now, and we get our own beds, that’s
ok but to be honest we like the big bed best! We wait until they are
sleeping and then we climb up and snuggle in.
Here are some pictures of us for you all to see. We hope you like
them!
Cheyenne and Zuny
HARLEY
Hi!
Just wanted to update you on Spirit (Harley Softail W). We adopted
Harley six months ago and she is doing great with the help of her
neighborhood friends- Autumn, Boo, Olivia and Zelda. We love her very
much!!!
Jay and Jackie W
LUCY
I've attached a few pictures of Lucy. She loves to pull her toys
apart and then take long naps on the couch. We adopted her in October
2007 and she has been such a great addition to our family. We still
can't get over what an incredible dog she is. We couldn't be luckier!
Lucy is now 60 lbs. She's quite the eater. She also has the softest
fur you will ever touch. She's very social at the dog park and plays
well with every dog she meets.
Thank you so much for rescuing her and giving her to us. We couldn't be
happier!
Best, Liz and Steven
MOTE
Just
another line (or ten) about Mote (was Stars of the Campbell's soup
litter). First notes first, she passed her CGC test back in November and
we're currently working of off leash remote training almost every day in
the park. Much easier now that the spell of winter snow seems to have
lifted, though she certainly enjoyed tramping through the snow more then
we did. All that really seems to change about it for her is that instead
of chasing snowballs, she's back on pouncing after errant leaves. We
also decided that her birthday is Feb 28, simply because it's easy to
remember, an though the thought of having all her puppy friends over for
a party was tempting we had to scrap it for the sanity of the cats.
Thank you for making 2007 the year of the Mote, well as far as were
concerned anyway. :)
~Zac and Jess
GOOBER
Attached is an updated picture of our dog Goober, whom we adopted in
the Fall of 2005. His littermates were the Andy Griffith gang of Otis,
Aunt Bea, etc. He has grown into a wonderful addition to our family! He
is welcomed into the entire house with us, but has his own space too. He
is extremely fast, having caught a few squirrels and rabbits already.
(Not our favorite thing for him to do!) In the winter he has about a
hour a night of walking on our treadmill. But as spring comes along
Goober and the rest of us are usually found walking on the sidewalk or
in the backyard. ( Usually having a spazz attack. ) When you look at him
now you can't even tell that he was the runt in the litter!
Thank you Happy Tails for our Goober!

BUMPER (Carnival's puppy)
Hi
Happy Tails,
Wanted to share a picture of Bumper, adopted June 2005. He is one of
Carnival's puppies... his full name is Bumper Car. He's grown into a 50
pound dog who enjoys running and playing with our son who is now 18
months old. Bumper has been camping and loves hikes and walks. We are
very curious about the rest of Carnival's puppies. When we adopted
Bumper it was thought he would top out around 30 pounds, but he turned
out a bit larger. He is thought to be a spaniel/beagle mix, and as you
can see he is very handsome!

CHARLIE
Hello
Happy Tails!
We have had Charlie (formerly Ranger) for almost two years now, and
he has been the best dog we could ever ask for! What we love the
best is how cuddly he is! He is such a ‘people’ dog that he’ll
snuggle up with anybody that lets him. What’s even more funny is how
no matter how little space you have on your lap, he’ll do his best
to pile all 55 pounds of him on you – just to be close. We get so
many compliments on what a beautiful, well-behaved dog he is. As you
can see, he’s quite laid back. Almost a month ago, we adopted
another dog and Charlie has been the best big brother. He loves his
new playmate! We also found out that Charlie loves to chase a laser
pointer – he’s always good for a few laughs. We couldn’t be happier
with the choice we made to adopt from you folks!
Best, Amanda & Mechelle
CHICA
I
want you to know that Chica--aka Morning Glory--is doing very well here
in the Sherman home.
She has doubled in size and is around 10-11 pounds right now. She is
fully house-broken and we have started training her in basic command
such as "sit" and "down". She is still eating puppy chow. The vet
estimated her birthdate near the end of June. She has teethed her
canines and continues to love to chew! She is still the sweet little
girl that you came to know. She is very cuddley and affectionate. Our
children Sheldon and Lilly brag to their friends about Chica at school.
They adore her. Chica has her own kennel which she sleeps every night.
She and our dog Piper are the best of buds. He is about 2 years older
than her. They keep each other exercised in the yard and around the
house, continually competing for each others chew-toys. They cuddle up
in the evening before they each go to sleep in their own kennels.
We cannot thank you enough for giving us the opportunity to adopt Chica.
She has been a great addition to our family.

RUBY (Mom to Reindeer litter)
Hi, I
just wanted to give you an update on Ruby (was Rudi, mom of the
reindeer litter). She is such a wonderful addition to our family
and the sweetest dog that I have ever met. Everyone who meets her
immediately falls in love with her - she is already a favorite at
our vet's. She is doing well with her new brother, Diesel. We
adopted Diesel three years ago from our local animal shelter. They
both love to play in the snow and their favorite things to do are
bury their heads in the snow and then flop over on their backs to
make snow angels. They are quite the pair. Ruby is also the
constant companion for our daughter and we are working to get them
in some dog classes together - perhaps therapy or agility
eventually.
She has
put a little weight on and her coat is very shiny and soft.
Thanks for everything and especially thank you for allowing Ruby to
join our family. We are eternally grateful.

MOJAVE
Hi
Gang!
My name is Mojave and I was adopted two years ago. Debbie was my nana
while I was waiting for a family. I have grown quite a bit since then
and weigh in at about 65 pounds. My mom thinks I look (and act) like one
of those Catahoula Leopard Hounds from Tennessee or Texas. I go to Lucky
Dog Daycare in Mukwonago two days a week and I love it. I also like the
dog park at Minooka Park. I think I have a pretty good life. My brother
dog was 9 years old when I came to live with him. He is now 11 and acts
more like a puppy than I do. I was really good for him, so if anyone is
thinking about adopting a younger dog for their older dog, DO IT!
Here are some pictures of me when I first came home and me at work. My
job? To make sure no one steals the baby! Or the bed!
Thanks Happy Tails for giving me a chance!

ARIEL
Monday, January 28th was a very special day for our family. We drove
from Madison to Waukesha to meet a puppy named "Tango," that we had
fallen in love with on the internet. When we finally arrived and saw
her, we fell in love! When we found out that she was born on my
birthday, we knew it was fate that brought us to her! We named her
"Ariel," like the Disney character "The Little Mermaid," she can be
sweet and cuddly one minute and rambunctious and energetic the next. She
loves to play with her toys, and we know she must have some Border
Collie in her, because her favorite one is a toy sheep! With her down
ears, we think she might be part lab, but whatever her "mix," she has
all of the perfect "ingredients" to make a great puppy! Thanks to Happy
Tails, our "tale" of "Family meets Dog" had as happy of an ending as the
teeny little white tip on the end of Ariel's wagging tail!
TOBY (Summer's puppy)
Hi -- thought I'd send a new pic of Toby (aka Sunshine who is
the very last pic on the brag page). I got a new puppy from a man
at work who couldn't take care of him due to his 12 hour shifts -- a
puggle we named Skooter. What a Godsend it's been having another
dog for Toby to play with. She absolutely loves her new brother and
has totally eliminated any bad behavior and teaches Skooter what's
acceptable and what's not. It's hysterical to watch her "scold" him
or come tattle to me when he's doing something he shouldn't. I
would love to see Toby's littermate (there were only the 2 of them
and his name was Coppertone) -- if you have any pics or a contact,
please let me know. Take care and hugs to everyone.

ZELDA
Hello!
This is Zelda from
the “Z” litter. This is her Halloween picture from 2007. We adopted
her in October of 2006 – she was born sometime around Labor Day of
2006. She is now 26 lbs at 1 ˝ years old. We saw her brother Zeke on
the webpage and would love to see some more of her brothers & sisters!
Zelda’s absolute
favorite things are going on walks, playing fetch, & going to see all of
her grandparents out in the country. She also likes to do her crazy run
around the house or in the yard when she gets riled up. Zelda graduated
from the Basic Dog Training at Amiable Dog School last July.
Thanks for all you
do & for letting us adopt Zelda! She brings lots of laughs every day –
she is quite the character!
Melissa, Jonathon,
& Zelda
BEAGLE BUTT (BB)
We
adopted BeagleButt (we kept her name, but do occasionally call her B.B.)
nearly a month ago and I just want to say a big THANK YOU! We have
fallen completely in love with her. She settled in quickly and has made
friends with the three kitties, something we thought would take a very
long time to happen (she's also made herself very comfortable in the
smallest cat bed she could find). She goes every where with us
(including to mom's work) and everyone who meets her thinks she is just
the sweetest little thing, and they're right! We're going through puppy
classes and she is such a smart little cookie (she does have a stubborn
streak in her, but one look into those eyes and we just have to laugh
and hug her for it). Thank you again for such a wonderful addition to
our family. It's hard to imagine life without her.
LEISA
We adopted Tubes back in October I believe, and renamed her Leisa. She
has been doing great with us, and my son loves having her around. She
just finished her first puppy class a couple weeks ago, and went through
her spaying about the same time. She is a very smart and happy dog, and
we
thank you for helping us find her. I'm attaching a couple pictures I
took today.
The first day I got her, I took her to a pet store to get food and
stuff. I met a woman there who bred German Shepherds and she was sure
my puppy was almost a pure-bred German Shepherd and would grow to 70 or
more pounds. Thankfully, at her first vet appointment a couple
days later, the doctor told me she was unlikely to get much over 30
pounds, which is where she is
now (she was only 14 pounds when we got her). Another woman in a pet
store
later told me she had a perfect Rottweiler face, so now when people ask
what kind of dog she is, my son says she is a German RottTerrier.
Anyway, just wanted to let you know that we are really enjoying having
Leisa around, and to thank you.

TREY PARKER
Trey
Parker, formerly Parker, is just the best dog! We love him dearly. He
attends daycare regularly and is a FAVORITE! We're so glad he picked us.
:>) He comfortably lives with his kitty roommates and enjoys chasing
them around the house. Trey was shy when we first got him and has made
tremendous strides to be the wonderful pooch he is today. Trey's next
step in life.........getting a playmate! YEA.
SHIRLEY, ROXY, ELI
Hello
Happy Tails......just wanted to send an update. As you can see, Eli
(right-adopted Oct. '05 - Velvet's pup) and Shirley (left-adopted Feb.
'06 - Hazel's pup) have grown into beautiful, wonderful dogs. Eli is now
well over 100 lb. and Shirley is about 30 lb., and they are now both 2
years old (time flies!) Between them is their big sister, Roxy, who is 7
years old and totally blind - though she's still the boss!!! They are so
good with her. The three of them are in their favorite spot - the bay
window - where they can keep tabs on all the neighborhood doings. (I've
given up on cleaning nose prints off the glass!!!) After dealing with
multiple behavior problems with Roxy (who was purchased from a pet store
and is most likely the product of a puppy mill), we are convinced that
adopting is the only way to go. Eli and Shirely are the best dogs in the
world. Both are very loving, well behaved and healthy. If we could, we'd
adopt 100 more!!!! We continue to direct anyone intested in a dog to
Happy Tails.
Debbie and Joe R. XOXOXOX - love and kisses from Eli and Shirley
MURPHY
Happy
Tails,
My name is Murphy, formerly Charles Ingalls, and I just wanted to give
you an update of my 1st year with my new parents. Before I go on, I want
to thank you for taking care of me for the first 5 weeks of my life and
for helping finding me a great home. It's people like you that give
puppies like us a great opportunity at a meaningful life. So, I'm
already one year old. My birthday was a few months ago and Mom and Dad
actually threw me a birthday party. They tried to put a birthday hat on
me but I didn't like it too much. It's weird too, because I love hats! I
try to eat Dad's every morning while he's in the shower. Dad says I'm a
grown man now and should start acting like it but I still like to get in
trouble sometimes. Mom's shoes, the mail and socks are my favorite. In
my defense though, I've come a long way. I've been completely potty
trained for months and actually ring Mom's chimes when I need to go
outside. Sometimes I just ring it when I want a treat and it used to
work all the time, but I think Mom and Dad are catching on to my scheme.
Even so, I learned how to open up the back door by myself when I want to
come back inside. I love to take walks and play at the dog park in
Brookfield. That's where most of my friends hang out. I learned how to
swim this past summer and I even know how to play soccer. I'm usually
goalie and Dad says I have potential. Overall, I'm really happy with my
life. I love my family and I know they love me. Thank you again for
taking care of me and my brothers and helping us get into good homes.
Until next time,
Murphy
